The comments on the new contest are fucking disgusting. I knew close minded homophobes existed in the world, but to read comment after comment from people just outright gay bashing...I feel sick. Love is love.

A lot of people feel that it is threatening their religion but the law can't make a church do anything like that so it's illogical. Two really seperate issues.

But the state should allow for the same legal rights for traditional couples and gay partners.

I'm indifferent (I've honestly never had the issue effect me, not meaning to me insensitive), but I don't see why not. I'm Christian and I don't even care. It's not like they're forcing Christians to perform marriages in their churches. I've never had a problem with gay people, so why should anyone else? *shrug*

Honestly, it's like holding onto old beliefs. I mean, I've heard my dad say some off color stuff about gay people and well, it's just what people back in his day said. It's like hearing an old lady say something horrible about someone of a different race. You can't really... get it out of their vocabulary or thoughts. Sometimes those beliefs are passed on unfortunately.

Yes, definitely! I think it sucks that people bitch about the use of the term 'marriage' when related to same sex couples. If my husband and I got to choose whether to have a 'marriage' or a 'civil partnership', we'd go for the CP...less associations with uptight religious stuff and less freaking out over our choice to be childfree.
